Passover Interactive Learning with mixed age groups

Passover Learning and Preparation at Beth El’s Religious School

This coming Sunday we will continue what we started last Sunday with our BERS kids. We will take a deeper look into Pesach and it’s traditions. The children will be divided into mixed-aged groups and each team will research an aspect of Passover, create a project, and then present it. These projects will be on display for our Annual Congregational Seder.

We hope all our BERS families will join other BE families and friends for an interactive, meaningful, and fun seder led by Cantor Ben-Moshe on the evening of April 11.

Na’aleh High School visits the BERS!

BERS welcomes representatives from Na’Aleh, a high school program from Israel. The children learned about opportunities to study in Israel.

The children also learned about Eliezer Ben’Yehuda, the father of modern Hebrew, practiced Ashrei, and talked about the week’s parashah.

Sundays are Fun Learning Days at the Beth El Religious School!

Last week was packed with Jewish learning, and fun.

Highlights:

Carol Rubin was with us. We had a great time singing and dancing TuB’Shevat & Havdallah songs. Thank you Ms. Carol!!

Kitah Alef learned about baby Moses, and movement art.

Kitah Bet & Gimmel continued learning about Havdalah, made kiddush cups and Havdalah candles.

Kitah Dalet are reading a book written for teens and pre-teens, discussing Jewish life events. They made fleece blankets to donate to the animal shelter. A big thank you to the Koeller girls for delivering the much needed blankets.

Vania and Marina worked on the Torah project. We ended B’reishit and then Cantor Yitzhak Ben-Moshe helped the group share what the Religious School has done thus far. Tomorrow we will begin on Exodus.

We look forward to seeing all our BERS friends tomorrow morning!

L’Shalom,
Shereen Ben-Moshe

Warm welcomes and hot chocolate

Baby, it’s cold outside! photo 1

Religious School started last Sunday, on one of the coldest days this year!

Our kids came bundled up and ready to learn! The hot cocoa we served also made the morning extra sweet and warm.

We welcomed new students: Kira, Mirele, Ariana, Ilan and Ziv!
We are thrilled you have joined our school!

Here are a few highlights from last Sunday:

Morah Iris Daniel started as our new teacher. We have grown so that we need a 4th class!

She will have the oldest kids from Morah Lital’s Kitah Bet class. Her class will be a Hebrew Immersion class. More details to come soon. This week, she and Iris Koeller taught Morah Lital’s large group. Lital will be returning from Israel next Sunday. This group learned all about Havdallah. They played a smelling game, identifying various herbs, sweets and chocolate. Then made Havdallah bags. They will continue this study by learning the prayers in coming weeks.

Morah Anat and her children brought their new dog. They rescued this cutie. The kids were thrilled.

Cantor Ben-Moshe and I will be teaching our new Kitah Dalet class. These are our pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah kids. Last Sunday we started a new book, toured the sanctuary, and got hands-on and up close experience with the Torah, and more.

JOIN US FOR SERVICES:

We hope to see all our BERS families tomorrow for Shabbat services and our Kiddush lunch. We will be honoring our sweet Morah Bev.

Shabbat Shalom,

Shereen Ben-Moshe   Ms Carol 2017
